LONGING FOR SUMMER

This is where I want to be today. I took this shot on the Isle of Shoals off of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

You've had a long winter 21charlesstreet, and I hope you get to use those gardening tools very soon. At least this photo doesn't have any snow in it!

Even here in Austin, with the shrubs in bloom, tomatoes planted and the leaves opening on the pecans, we're not out of winter, with temperatures for Saturday night predicted to be in the thirties. Some wacky spring, isn't it?

Annie,

This shot was taken in August, years past. I'm so glad I didn't open up too much in my gardens - maybe in another couple of weeks. It's so hard to wait, but made easier when I get to go on your blog and see all the wonderful things that are blooming in Texas. Your gardens are so beautiful.

Thanks for coming to check up on me - we went to 34ยบ, but didn't freeze again in Austin itself. I'm not too sure about the peach orchards to the west... but we have not been hit with anything like you folks!
Wishing you real spring soon-

Annie

Pat,

Did you get the storm we just got?

Yes, my town got hit with two huge snowstorms in five days. Fortunately I flew to Florida after the first one as we're on spring break. Then we got hurricane force winds, and coastal flooding Monday and Tuesday. I was able to see it all on the news from the comfort of the palms and soft beach sand with my daughter. Now I finally get it - God didn't want me to be cold :)

Amen to that!

No post in 5 weeks? Really? Are you spending your time destroying, um, improving 21 Charles Street with all this blog silence?

Feeeeel the love.

Ok Lisa, I hear ya. I can assure you that my five weeks were not spent tyveking or tearing walls down.

When the freezing temperatures subside I'm outside all the time - I just can't give up on the day. I've been doing a lot of perennial garden prep and getting some veggies planted.

I promise that I'll send out some blogs this weekend. I've got some good shots of the garden starting to sprout and I also want to do a blog on my trip to Stowe, VT for a cancer survivors that I attended with my sister Elizabeth.

I've been living vicariously through your blog and Annie in Austin's blog. I love them.
